Trainee / Junior Quantity Surveyor – Galway

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Trainee, Graduate or Junior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Irish main contractor based in Galway.

Initially based in the Galway head office, you will work within the procurement department, gaining a comprehensive understanding of procurement processes across the organisation. This will provide an excellent grounding in subcontractor and supplier procurement, tender analysis, commercial processes and cost management.

Following this initial development period, you will progress into a site-based Quantity Surveyor role, working alongside an experienced commercial team on major construction projects.

The Role

• Support the procurement of subcontractors, suppliers and materials.
• Assist with tender enquiries, comparisons and commercial analysis.
• Develop a strong understanding of procurement and commercial procedures.
• Work closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors and commercial managers.
• Progress into a site-based QS position, assisting with valuations, cost control, variations and subcontractor management.

Requirements

• A degree is not essential. Candidates should be studying, or planning to study, Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
• Suitable for someone at trainee, graduate or junior level who wants to build a career in quantity surveying and procurement.
• Strong numerical, organisational and communication skills.
• A genuine interest in construction, procurement and commercial management.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad commercial experience with a leading contractor and develop from procurement into a site-based Quantity Surveying role.
